چکیده

Staple yarns form the bulk of the manufacturing activity of the U.S. textile industry. Staple fiber yams are utilized in the making of apparel, upholstery and industrial fabrics. Yarns may be made from natural staple fibers or from a variety of synthetic fibers or from the blends of different fibers. As a matter of fact, blends constitute a bulk of the staple yarns manufactured in the U.S. Although both natural (primarily cotton) and synthetic fibers (primarily polyester) have geometric and physical properties that meet most, if not all of the end-use requirements for a variety of applications. However, the limits in the utilization and translation of the physical and mechanical properties of fibers into yarns are strongly influenced by the system of manufacturing. We believe that by delineating the role played by the fiber/machine interactions in determining the characteristics of the final products, i.e. yarns that the U.S. textile industry will be able to better utilize the raw materials and improve the product quality. The proposed work in this project is concerned with the fundamental aspects of studying the factors that influence the yarn structure and consequently the properties of the resultant yarns spun with various spinning systems especially the air jet and rotor systems.

Redistribution of Fibers in the Structure of Hollow Ring Spun Yarn

Core yarn was spun by introducing a PVA multifilament as the core through the yarn forming zone of a ring spinning frame and viscose fibers as the sheath containing tracer fibers. The water soluble PVA multifilament was extracted from the yarn structure. Then internal structure and properties of the hollow ring yarn was assessed and compared with those of typical ring yarns. Also, two plain fab...

Effects of Changes in Front Drafting Rollers Geometry on the Properties of Ring Spun Yarns

Regarding the importance of ring spinning method among spinning systems, great potentials exist for research about on the improvement of the quality and properties of ring spun yarn. This study aims to improve yarn quality by changing the shape and dimensions of spinning triangle through forming a groove in the middle zone of the front darfting roller with a curvature of 5 to 7 mm. For the to...

Quality of Yarns Produced by Japanese Open-End BD-200 Spinning Machines and of Final Products

Yarns produced by Japanese Open-end BD-200 spinning machines give these major advantages: (1) They are somewhat stronger than yarns spun by Czecho BD-200's. (2) They are almost as strong as yarns spun by ring spinning machines. This strength is obtainable without raising the cost of raw cotton if the right fore-spinning processes and spinning conditions are used. (3) They have maximum strength ...

Physical Damage to Textiles

ANY MATERIAL COMPOSED OF FIBRES IS A TEXTILE, AND THIS DEFINITION covers an extremely wide range of products in everyday use. Worldwide, over 35 million tonnes of textile fibre is consumed annually, ending up not only as clothing, upholstery, bed linen and carpets, but also in such items as ropes, seat belts, nets, road stabilisation mats, drainage pipes and tents. It is not surprising that, wh...
